Everyone needs goals to get their priorities established in life. If people do not have goals, they tend to drift and often wonder what they could have done. Too many people live their whole life without accomplishing what they truly wanted. Goals never work for some people because they delay, put off, and find reasons or excuses not to take action. They wish they could have something but the desire was not strong enough to make a change. A desire needs to be so strong that we choose to make a positive change and follow through with an action plan to accomplish the desire. Many people set goals but get sidetracked and do not follow through until their goals become a firmly held belief and they reach the state of being convinced they can accomplish the goal. Where are you in life and where do you want to be in the future?

  • SMART Goals
  • SMART goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-Bound, and oftentimes require coaching from a professional that has solutions to motivate and keep people on the right track. It is critical to manage tasks and have a clear view in mind to accomplish success. Specific goals define what you want to accomplish, when, where, why, and how you plan to take action. Measurable goals are meaningful and likely to have a major impact that is possible to measure in time and achievement. Achievable goals are those we can attain with effort or despite difficulty. It is possible to accomplish something successfully when we perform at or above the standard level. A goal is realistic if you have the knowledge, familiarity, awareness, and understanding that it is possible to carry out the goal.

  • Time Management
  • Time management is a skill few people learn to master, but it is one of the most important keys to turn goals into reality. The wiser people are with their time, the faster they achieve their goals. Time periods need to be measured in minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years if we want to accomplish every specific task we are serious about. A day planner is great, but goals require more than just writing them down and thinking about them. Brainstorm your thoughts as you are setting your goals and keep a daily journal as you are thinking about what you finished on time, need to reschedule, or really do not need to do. Journal entries can be simple little statements to recap and organize your thoughts each day. Journal entries only take 5 or 10 minutes before you go to bed. Real actions always lead to results. It is amazing what you accomplish when you hold yourself accountable.

Understanding and tracking habits is a wonderful way to gain knowledge and move towards success. What habits do you need to focus on changing? What positive habits do you need to add? What negative habits do you need to remove? What effective habits have you formed to satisfy your expectations? Thinking about your habits is a wonderful way to realize what may be holding you back and what solutions are available to keep your goals on track.

Motivational pictures subconsciously orient the brain by training thought patterns to visualize what we want to achieve. It is easier to accomplish goals when beautiful pictures constantly reminded us of the important things in life. It is critical to change thoughts in the part of the mind that holds wishes, impulses, and ideas to process the most important information. Inspired actions influence your mood, temperament, personality, manner of thinking, behaving, and acting. It is even possible to avoid roadblocks with a cheerful disposition. A positive attitude is everything if we want to turn our dreams into reality.

    Final Thought

Life is too short; it is time to take action and focus on effective goals. It’s an amazing life and a wonderful day to start an action plan to fulfill your dreams. If you don’t take action and think about your SMART goals you won’t make them happen. Actions lead to results!
