No matter who you are today, a doctor, an engineer, a student, a teacher, a businessman, etc; you will have to go through the cycle of ups and downs with your moods and your states. It is totally normal and you just need to learn how to manage it.

Successful people seem to like having all the energy to work on their goals all day because they know how to handle their “down” compared to most people. Here are what you can do when you feel stuck and getting nowhere:

1) Rediscover Your Motivation Through Goal Setting

For most people, when they feel stuck, they will stop doing everything. They just live their life directionless, like a lost sheep, following the crowd. Well, this does not have to happen to you. You can rediscover your motivation through goal setting. The best way you can do this is to set your goals once more. Take out a piece of paper and write down all the goals that you want to accomplish in your life. If your goals are interesting to you, they will pull you and give you the energy to achieve them.

2) Talk To Your Support Group Or Your Mentor

This is another great method that can help you get out of the loop. When you feel stuck, try to talk to someone that can give you the support, or even better, talk to your mentor. Your mentor will be able to give you the best advice at that moment and know what to do. If you don’t have a mentor, talk to a friend who understands your situation and who can support you. You want to change the state you are in by changing the thoughts in your head through conversation with others.

3) Get Out And Do Something Totally Not Related

Have you tried to take a walk in the garden or go window shopping by yourself? If you have not tried these, you can try them out when you’re stuck. Taking a walk in the garden or get close to nature can make you feel calm and you will be able to rediscover your purpose in life. And when you take a walk in the shopping, you will see different things as well. You will see the crowd walking past and it will give you totally different experiences. The key is to do something that is totally unrelated to the work that make you stuck.
