You need an extra dose of inspiration when you are deeply involved in your routine. I remember those days when all my days seem to be the same. Every day, going to the same station, passing by the same buildings and taking the same road. The mundaneness was taking a toll on my mind. Relatable?
Practicing a few of the below-listed activities have helped a lot of people get out of the rut and be inspired.
Meditate or practice yoga
In the book Inspiration Meditation, by Orna Ross, the best-selling novelist and poet, Ross explains the connection between inspiration and meditation. Meditating helps to enhance the perception, awareness and presence which are also the characteristics of inspiration. Another activity that has a similar effect is yoga, which stimulates both body and mind. Find a nice spot where you can start with any of these beneficial habits.
Connect with nature
Grab your slippers and go for a stroll in the park nearby. Recent studies have found that connecting yourself with nature promotes calmness and inspiration. Be it the woods or mountains or lakes, take some time off from your day and unwind with nature. “In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks” -John Muir
Read, Read and Read
Inspiration is a subject much loved by philosophers and authors. When you are in need of inspiration, it’s amazing what a bit of encouragement and positive reinforcement can do. Words have the power to do just that. To help you with inspirational reading, check out a few books like The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh.
Try something new
If you can totally relate to my situation of mundane, it sure can drain your creativity and zest for life. Dare to try different activities to bring some sense of excitement and adventure. If you have been taking the same route to work, alter it. If you have been postponing to start with your dream project, get started. Make a list of goals you wish to achieve. Get goal setting app if you need some help to get started.
Disconnect from Digital Life…for a while
The time we disconnect from mobile devices are the precious moments of both inspiration and motivation. Too much of internet information can make your mind cluttered with thoughts. It can decrease your creativity. Going on a digital diet for a few days or at least for a few hours in a day helps you relax your brain and come up with fresh perspective a.k.a euphoric ideas.
Engage with positive people
Positive social connections are the indicator of happiness and inspiration. Think of all those people who constantly push you forward and keep you on track in life, don’t you feel good? These are the people to be around and engage in positive conversations with them. New ideas and good vibes from such people make you more lively and inspired!
